Král, David ; Bačáková, Radka (advisor) ; Hojka, Vladimír (referee)
Title: Comparative analyses of muscle activation lower extremities during running at different surface. Objectives: The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to compare the level of activation of selected muscles of the lower extremities and the relative timing of these activations. Realize measurements on three types of surface: tartan, grass, sand and find out the differences in activations of selected muscles according to the surface. Methods: In this thesis, we used the method of analysis and the method of comparison. We applied the analysis method in the analysis of the measured signals for the running step and the comparison method in the section comparing average running step cycles from different surface types. Results: We found out that running on the tartan, acitvates all the monitored muscles in more than 75% of the average cycles within 10% of the running step time period. For tartan, grass and sand, we researched that the order of activated muscles is different, although the starts of activation are not different in time from each other within one stride cycle. On the tartan, the activation of the tibialis anterior and peroneus longus muscles in both lower ewtermities is comparably same long as in the heads of the gastrocnemius. On the sandy surface, a double activation occurred in the...

Title: Analysis of upper limbs muscles involvement during playing the drums. Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to compile information about playing the drums and summerize the most frequent musculosceletal disorders of upper extremities of these musicians. The main aim is analyzing and comparing the involvement of muscles or muscles groups of the right upper limb while drumming. Methods: The theoretical part follows up the given issue as a research and theoretical overview of the current findings based on czech and foreign literature. The practical part is dedicated to evaluation of surface electromyography and 3D kinematics analyses of movements while drumming under specified conditions of one single proband. Results: Results of measurement demonstrate that m. biceps brachii is the most active muscle during playing on hi-hat, snare drum and floor tom with forte dynamics and m. extenzor carpi uln. is is the most muscle active during play with piano dynamics. Wrist flexors were the least active during all measurements. M. extenzor carpi rad. was measured too and its activity was on second place. A close relation between changes of muscles activity and changes of angles of the elbow and wrist have not been established in this study. This research was implemented only with one proband so the...
Kinesiological study performed Frenchay Arm Test in patients with spastic hemiparesis
KOPECKÁ, Monika
This bachelor thesis is devoted to a kinesiological study of the Frenchay Arm Test in patients with spastic hemiparesis. It is a study focused on the kinesiological analysis of selected items in modified Frenchay Arm Test, which is supplemented with mapping of electrical activity of selected muscles by surface electromyography in patients with spastic hemiparesis before and after botulinum toxin application. The theoretical part describes the different manifestations and forms of spastic paresis. Clinical scales for the assessment of spasticity and treatment options are also presented. The last part is devoted to grip functions and selected tests assessing functional abilities of the hand. One of those listed is the Frenchay Arm Test and its modified version. It is a tool that assesses common activities of daily living. In the practical part, a qualitative research was used. The research sample consisted of two probands with spastic hemiparesis who were indicated for botulinum toxin treatment. Kinesiological analysis was performed on each before and after botulinum toxin application. It included medical history, aspect, palpation, examination of sensation, reflexes and muscle strength, goniometry, spasticity examination according to Gracies and modified Frenchay Arm Test (mFAT). Three items were selected from this test, kinesiologically described in the practical section, in which the activity of selected muscles was mapped by surface electromyography (SEMG). By comparing the results, it was possible to observe the changes in muscle activity that occurred as a result of rehabilitation, botulinum toxin application and the kinesiological performance itself. It has been documented that mFAT is a suitable test for monitoring the effects of therapy in patients with spastic hemiparesis. However, it is important that it is evaluated by experienced therapists and its accurate performance is maintained. SEMG is a suitable method for mapping muscle activity, although the results and their interpretation are limited by the methodology of performance and the processing of the recording.

Title: The effect of starting position in hip joints on the muscle activity of the quadriceps femoris muscle during the Reverse Nordic Hamstring Exercise evaluated using surface electromyography. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine whether a change in the initial position in the hip joints (in terms of rotation in hip joints) during the Reverse Nordic Hamstring Exercise (rNHE) will cause a change in muscle activity in every part of the quadriceps femoris muscle, which can be recorded by surface electromyography. Methods: Overall 40 participants were selected for this research. The selection was intentional due to the nature of this study and it participants represented a healthy population. They were randomly divided into two groups. All participants started by performing rNHE with a neutral position in hip joints, then (depending on the group they were members of) performed rNHE with internal or external rotation in the hip joints. Each variant of rNHE was performed 3 times and it took 3 seconds to perform this exercise (angular velocity 30 ř per second). During the exercise, the muscular activity of the rectus femoris, the medial vastus and lateral vastus muscles on both lower limbs was measured using surface electromyography. Results: The results show that a change in the starting...
